No, I don’t want to climb some corporate ladder.

Go to college!
Go into a field that ensures you a job.
Work your way up in a career.
Go into something like Computer Science or the Medical field.
Be a nurse!
Do something with your life for God sakes!

People keep asking me what I plan on doing with my life, like I’m not living my life right now. It’s like I must’ve hit the pause button or something.

I don’t want to be pruned and groomed into the “perfect” employee. I don’t want to spend years working for a company just to be kicked right back onto the street. I don’t want my future in the hands of somebody else.

It’s like I haven’t been hammering away on my laptop. It’s like I haven’t been working tirelessly on my craft and constantly trying to evolve. It’s like I’ve stopped learning just because I’m not in a classroom.

I don’t want a career. I don’t want to be a doctor or a nurse or a information tech guy. I want to be a writer. I want to live a creative life, and most of the time that looks different than the average life.

Creative lives look extremely different. If we’re waking up at 5 AM, it’s not because we have to be out of the house by 6. We’re up because we have an idea and want to jot it down before we start the coffee maker. We’re up because we told ourselves ‘one more…
