A Poem

Photo by WillSpirit SBLN on Unsplash

I can’t help but see a war zone
Bullets fly
Into schools
Into resteraunts
Into churches
Sometimes I wonder if stepping outside is worth it

Choking on paranoia
Blasting Dave East
“I don’t want nobody next to me”
I don’t know what’s next for me

Hollow tips
Drive by
Can you hear the mother’s cry?
Can you hear them screaming to the sky
Asking why?

Outside is a war zone
You can’t even pull out a phone
Without getting gunned down
20 rounds
How many bullets can one body take?
My heart aches
Just thinking about it

So I try not to think about it…

The Album Cover of Dave East’s Paranoia

“Paranoia gettin’ the best of me
I don’t want nobody next to me
Don’t talk unless you got a check for me
I don’t see nobody ahead of me
Foreigns, we jump out the back of ‘em
I cannot wait ’til this pack is done
Don’t care if they foreign, we crashin’ ‘em
Take a look at my bitch, ain’t a badder one” — Paranoia by Dave East
