Matt Patricia and the Lions travel to Houston to take on the Texans in their second preseason game.
After a surprising, electrifying performance from veteran Matthew Stafford, Lions’ fans are anxious to see what their rookie quarterback can cook up.

Kerryon Johnson breaks through the Texans defense early, racking up a 42 yard run on the third play of the game.

Rookie QB Xavier Young throws a play-action pass to Marvin Jones Jr. for a 15-yard touchdown right before taking a big hit. However, they’re forced to punt on the very next drive. The Texans keep the score close with a field goal.

Young enters the second quarter with 58 yards, already more than he racked up during his first game with the Lions. Unfortunately, he can’t get any consistency and throws the first pick of his career.

With a little less than 2 minutes left in the half, Young works his way down the field. Lions’ fans scoot to the edge of their seat, excited to see what the rookie does as he gets close to the end zone.

He hits Jesse James on a 7-yard curl route for his second TD of the game, leading the Lions to a 10 point lead. The Texans answer right back, closing the gap to a smaller 4 point lead.
