That homophobic bullshit has no place here. It’s even crazier that nobody wants to be accountable and admit they fucked up. That article was so harmful. How do you write about how to prevent kids from being gay? What about those kids that are or have just realized they aren’t heterosexual or cis? How do you knowingly write something that outcasts them and makes them feel like they’re something that should actively be discouraged and taught against?
How does such a piece get seen by an editor and given the green light? Then when you have actual LGBTQ people and allies saying its wrong — you don’t take any action until the heat rises?
Kids? You raise kids with unconditional love and support and give them the one place in this cold, selfish world where they know they’re safe. Guess what happens when you start trying to “raise” children against who they are? They resent you and look for love elsewhere- often times in the wrong places.
This was a homophobic piece that the writer tried to hide in a jungle of ignorance. We saw right through it.
