“She”

Every man needs one of her

She stands by me
Even when I say I want more surgery
After the fourth infection
In and out of the hospital
As if I haven’t learned my lesson
Even though it wasn’t my fault
I took a loss
Of time
A week’s worth of dimes

When I fall
She stays behind
To help me up
It’s as if the stars aligned
When we walked in
Each other’s lives

Far from perfect
But she thinks I’m worth it
Even though
My testosterone comes in a vial
She still dials
My number
Just to hear my voice
She’s had the choice
Of walking away
Numerous times
But she stayed

My ride or die
The Bonnie to my Clyde
If I was blind, she’d be my guide
If I was paralyzed, she’d be right
At my bedside
My heart swells with pride
Every time
I think about her
How lucky I got
When we landed in the same spot
