Many people receiving assistance feel awkward or ashamed about it like you did. Of course, there are people who get complacent but I think they’re the minority honestly.

I’m sure most people try to make their food stamps stretch as far as possible. However, we don’t have the right to tell them what to spend their food stamps on. Once the money goes to them, it’s theirs. Sure, we pay taxes — but that money goes to various places.
