“Lovebirds”

Together, we’ll fly

Lovebirds
He’s still trying to find his words
Snatching verbs
From the clouds
In his mind
Does she know
That she’s in there
All the time

Sometimes
He can’t rhyme
But he thinks about her all the time
She has defensive walls built
So he climbs
At night, he wishes he owned every dime
Just so he can make her world just right

He loves hard
Despite all the scars
Searching for a house with a backyard
Putting it all on the table
Playing all his cards
Quiet by nature
Rather let his actions talk
But isn’t talking an action too

Lovebirds
One look at her
And he loses his words
He just knows it would hurt
If he lost her
So before she could get away, he blurts,
“I love you.”

*For my phenomenal girlfriend NaNa’sworld
