I wrote this for transmen, queer women, and nonbinary people attracted to women. Honestly, I wrote this while I was still going through my very first heartbreak.
This piece isn’t meant to be against women. This is more of me telling my LGBTQ siblings not to chase after a straight woman because they deserve to be loved without having to convince someone to love them. More often than not a young LGBTQ’s first heartbreak is due to them believing if they love someone hard enough, society’s labels won’t matter as much — which unfortunately isn’t true a lot of the time.
I think that a lot of people that find this piece without knowing any of my other work believe that this is a piece against women because they don’t know my background- and I apologize that the piece seems that way. It wasn’t my intent.
I wondered whether or not I should take this piece down, but ultimately I decided not to because it shows my growth as a writer and as a young transman. It is a part of my journey and it needs to be shared so other LGBTQ people can see it and know they aren’t alone.
