I Stand With You

People can be your worst nightmare. There’s more than 7 billion people on this planet and you can never tell who’s out to get you or who’s willing to walk with you until its too late. Most of the time you don’t find out until you’re pulling a knife out of your back. People can be monsters, even without the disfigured characteristics. A pretty smile can lead you into the darkest corners of your mind.

Everyone isn’t going to be willing to stand with you, but I do. The world can feel like its falling apart even when its sunny outside. I can’t stop the negative. I can’t tell you you’ll never experience bullying or being outcast or labeled something you’re not. However, I can tell you that you don’t have to let that define you.

I stand with you when you’re celebrating your first shot or when you pick out the right name or you start a new workout routine. I stand with you when the day is long, when your mood is all over the place, and when you can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. I stand with you when you get a new pet, when you get a new outfit, when you’ve got that package you’ve been waiting for all week. I stand with you when someone misgenders you, when you’re scared to use the bathroom because people are idiots, and when you feel anxious because you don’t feel like you pass.

Everyone isn’t going to stand with you, but I do. I stand with you today, tomorrow, and everyday after that.
