I never came out to my parents either. My mother had an idea about it. She knew or claimed she knew that I liked girls, but I was 12 when she passed so she couldn’t have been 100% sure. She wasn’t that happy that I hated anything feminine, but she learned to stop fighting me as much about it.

My dad is an alcoholic, and we’re not close. My grandmother calls him “sperm-doner” haha so I’ve never felt like I owed him any explanation about who I am.

Love finds people in mysterious ways. Even if you never come out to your parents, you’ll find love and acceptance elsewhere. I’m proud of you for being brave enough to be who you are.
