You either love Call of Duty or you hate it.

Call of Duty — Game Informer Magazine

I had no intention of buying the new Call of Duty game. I didn’t even know the day it came out. It usually comes out about mid-November, right?

Stores like WalMart and BestBuy have big displays put up with Doritos and Redbull or Monster along with as many copies of the game they can fit. It’s all streamers can talk about. This fall, I wasn’t paying any attention.

Dialysis had my full attention. Instead of watching the PSN store, I was watching the Nintendo Store for games I could play while on the dialysis machine.

One mid-afternoon, I was browsing YouTube and I saw someone playing the new installment of Call of Duty. I don’t remember the YouTuber, but I clicked on the video.

It looked fun. It looked completely different than the Black Ops installments. The gameplay kind of reminded me of Electronic Art’s Battlefield games. I hesitated. I’ve faithfully bought every Call of Duty since Black Ops 3 for full-price and have been deeply disappointed.

Black Ops 3 was my first Call of Duty game, and I had so much fun with it. I sucked, barely holding on to the bottom of the leaderboard every game. I loved it anyway. I played so much, I eventually leveled up. I got to prestige one time before I gave it up.
