“Good Morning”

A really short story

I wake up before the sun fully rises. I can still see the stars, but just barely.

My fingertips slowly trail down your bare back. My palm rests on your soft skin.

My chest became a pillow just for your head before we fell asleep.

We spent all night talking. Slowly, your confidence built up enough to look me in the eye. I watched as you bit your bottom lip in an attempt to stop the wide smile spreading across your face.

While you were telling me about your favorite Anime shows, I snuck my hand into yours. You abruptly stopped, gave me a nervous giggle, then tried to pick up where you left off.

You’re so adorable. I reassured you that the nerves would settle as you got used to being so close to me.

I feel our connection. It’s strong — like when you hold a magnet close to the fridge and you can feel the magnet being pulled. I don’t know how it happened, but I’m not questioning it either.

I sneak a kiss on your forehead as you sleep against me. Your leg is lazily draped over mine. I remember you snuggling up against me, trying to get as close as possible. It was my turn to bite back a smile, but I couldn’t do it.
