Gentle Reminder #1

Society loves to make people think they aren’t doing enough. People can be in college taking the max amount of classes with an internship on the side and I guarantee you somebody will complain they don’t have a paying job. People can be working three jobs and people will criticize them for still struggling to make ends meet when the gap is so big you can fit two nfl stadiums in it. Stop letting other people make you feel bad if all you did today was clean the house or catch up on some sleep or went to work and came home. Who are they? The only people that can find something to complain about are the people that have time to look. Somebody that’s busy focused on them won’t even know what you did or didn’t do because they’re focused on them. Life is a marathon that takes years. You don’t have to have it all figured out by 21 or even by 27- these people are projecting the dissapointment they feel with themselves onto you. They gave up on their dream and now they want to discourage you from yours. They didn’t taste success so they’re trying to make sure you don’t taste it either. If you skipped class today to take a nap — there’s nothing wrong with that. That doesn’t make you a bum or a failure or anything — as long as you don’t fall behind. If you got some housework done and that’s it, good for you. If you cranked out a chapter for that story you’ve been working on, I’m proud of you. If you took some time for yourself, good. Don’t let other people’s opinions bully you- it’s your life.
