“Been a Minute”

Anytime is a bit too long

It’s been a minute
Since you’ve been in my arms
It feels like years
Now I need a whole day
Just to play —
Just to play the love song
I’ve been working on
With my fingertips
Along your back
Tryna give you my all
Until you fade to black

It’s been a minute
I’m from the South
Take my biscuits
With a sea of honey
Just to lap it all up
Using my tongue
To test all of your limits

Just the thought
Of finally having you back
Next to me
Helping me breathe
In such a claustrophobic
World we live in
Every day
Death is the first thing
To wake me up
When I only want to wake up next to you
Tell me what’s a man to do
With all of this love
That just keeps building up
You were never just a fuck —
To me
You held the piece
Just the one I need
To finish my puzzle
