As Fast As You Can
A text sends me running across campus (Part One)
I knock on your door with my heart threatening to beat out of my chest. You’d texted me to get here as fast as I can.
All that damn basketball practice came in handy as sprinted across campus. Questions swarmed through my mind like a swarm of killer bees. What’s wrong, my mind kept asking.
The thought crosses my mind to kick the door in. What if you can’t get up off the floor. “Baby?” I yell into the bland wooden door. My voice echoes down the dorm complex’s hall.
You rip the door open and yank me inside. “What’s wrong?” I force out.
You slam the door behind me. I search your eyes for clues, but I can’t read you at all.
“Wha-.”
“I need your help,” you blurt out.
“Okay. I’m right here,”
You grab my hand and lead me across the spacious dorm to your bed. Confusion slaps me in the face. On top of your bed is an empty vibrator and a pair of batteries.
“What-?”
“I need your help, baby.” You say again. What did I just run across campus for? To get you some batteries?
You squeeze my hand and step toward me, forcing my eyes back on you. “Please?”
